December 15.... a nondescript Tuesday in the middle of December. The schools have closed for the Christmas. The business world is starting to take a breather for the holidays and there's the flurry of social obligations and Christmas parties. Maybe you will be busy packing the car for the drive to the holiday house or if you are lucky - already there.
Its 12 weeks from now...
In what position will you be financially then? What will you be putting in your pocket?
Where will your property portfolio be then? Would you have achieved the financial goals you set yourself for 2009?
Will your anxiety about your lack of progress be even greater than it is now, or will you be enthused and inspired about what you achieved during the last quarter of 2009?
December 15 is the last day of the 2009 business year for Smuts & Taylor.
By that day, many of my clients will have successfully purchased their first London property. Some, like so many other clients I worked with before, will have added a second or even a third to their growing offshore portfolio.
There will be a sense of accomplishment and peace of mind because you've finally taken the steps that will protect your family's financial future regardless of what happens in South Africa.
A lot of other people will have let 3 more months slip by and nothing will have changed. They'll still be frustrated by their lack of progress. They'll still be watching Sky News and scouring the internet looking for yet more inadequate information on the UK property market. They'll still feel overwhelmed by all the conflicting info, confused by it - like there's some big secret that the world's not telling them. They'll still be asking themselves - "Is now the right time to buy?"
Which group of people will you be a member of?
The 12 weeks is gonna go by, regardless.
On Tuesday December 15, September will be a memory and the passage of the next 12 weeks a mere snap of the fingers.
Because it was.
On Dec 15 Smuts & Taylor will close their doors for the Christmas holidays and when we reopen in January 2010 we will have done an over-haul of just about everything. We will be updating content, providing more media formats like online audio and video clips. There will be new eBooks to download and fantastic new property deals. It's a lot of work, but we feel confident that we can get it done by January.
But most importantly - access to all this content will be reserved exclusively for our members. You see after Dec 15 Smuts & Taylor will become a membership site. Membership will not be based on any kind of fees, but rather on taking action.
Over the last year or so we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of people signing up to our newsletter, downloading my book and contacting us with their questions on the UK property market. I have done my utmost to contact every signup personally and do my best to help where I could. But I have realised that as with all things property related a great number of these people have no real intentions of actually ever taking the next step. They like the "idea" of building an offshore portfolio, they like reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and talking to their friends about buying something in London. Yet that’s as far as things will ever go. They never have the time, the markets not right at the moment and so on and so forth.
There is nothing wrong per se with this crowd, but they are simply not the right type of client for what we are building here at Smuts & Taylor. I want to work with highly motivated individuals, people who put in 100% effort into their lifestyle goals and financial future. I want to create a community of these like-minded clients who can work together, help each other and most importantly have fun in doing so. (We are planning some exciting client events and workshops for 2010!)
So this is the deal. Everyone has 3 months from today to "take action" and secure their membership for 2010. Now this doesn’t mean you have to run out and buy the next investment opportunity we send you but it does mean you need to take some definitive steps that will get you closer to the end goal. Maybe this means getting your tax clearance from SARS for taking money offshore, maybe transferring funds to your offshore bank account while the ZAR is strong or even just opening a bank account in the first place. It can be as simple as getting in touch with your questions or arranging an appointment with me.
There's a lot of stuff you already know you should do that you haven't done. This is the time and the place to commit to YOURSELF that you're going to finally do it. Now.
The other members of Smuts & Taylor and I are the team that will hold you accountable.
12 weeks is gonna go by. Question is, where will your financial goals be?
You alone decide. Let’s get started for real this time.
Wishing you health, wealth and happiness,
Mike Smuts
Property investor and MD of Smuts & Taylor.
